The object hanging from the ceiling is the tail unit of a drop container for stick bombs. Electron thermal rods - so-called stick bombs - were used en masse during the Second World War to create firestorms, including the bombing of Hamburg as part of Operation Gomorrah. In total, more than 80 million stick bombs were dropped on Germany during the Second World War.
