The man, who was buried in a Roman cooking cauldron and was about 30 years old, had received his possessions with him in his grave. The bronze cauldron contained weapons - sword, shield, lance and knife - three pairs of horse spurs, belts and fibulae as part of the costume accessories, buckles and fittings for shoes; two bronze Roman wine ladles and two drinking horns. The equipment of this Germanic warrior indicates his high rank. The objects of foreign origin prove contacts with the Roman Empire. The Lord of Putensen probably served as an officer in the Roman army.
