The unusual shape of the so-called crown collar ring obviously had a special meaning for people 2,200 years ago: Again and again, such rings were deposited in bogs as offerings. Much more rarely, they were given to the deceased as burial gifts, such as the specimen from Geesthacht, which also represents a special regional form.
