These fibulae come from all over the world and thus illustrate how far fashion influences had already reached in the pre-Roman Iron Age. The fibula found in Holte-Spangen comes from southern Russia; the two pieces from Hamburg have their origins in southern Germany and Hungary, respectively. The fibula from Wetzen was actually made on the Lower Elbe, but very similar pieces were also found on Gotland and at the mouth of the Vistula. The fibula from Berensch-Voßberg is a local imitation of a Celtic fibula. Whether the imported clasps came to the north with their owner, as a gift or as loot, is unknown in all cases.
