A large number of sometimes very exotic finds from the Elbe are evidence of trade in goods from increasingly distant countries. The oldest trade goods came to northern Germany about 7,500 years ago. Today, gigantic cargo ships with container loads of goods from all corners of the world land in Hamburg every day.
