Since the Stone Age, women, and also men, have adorned themselves with various types of rings as jewelry. What changed over the millennia was the type of material, but not the intention of the wearer. The bracelets and anklets from Wildeshausen come from a hoard from the periphery of a moor. So, these rings were apparently not only worn as jewelry, but seemed so valuable to their owner that they were sacrificed to the gods.
