Gold Fever in Asendorf (1)
Clay Vessel (1)

This treasure trove of 4,500 gold and silver coins hidden in a clay jar was found in 1962 during the construction of a road. The mints of the coins, mainly located in northern Germany, provide insights into money flows and trade relations during the Middle Ages. The reason for burying such treasures were warlike events - especially in such troubled times, valuables were hidden to protect them from looting.
