About 14,000 years ago, Ice Age hunters found ideal conditions for reindeer hunting on the high ridges of the Geest overlooking the Elbe valley, as here in Rissen. Where the people had set up their camps, waste and flint implements were left behind. These include different kinds of scrapers as well as arrowheads. They are the oldest evidence of hunting with bow and arrow in this country.
