58 Fibulae Pairs

Showcase

In the cremated remains of urns, archaeologists often find personal equipment that provides information about the buried person. Fibulae, which were worn as a pair, were part of the dress accessories of Germanic women. They held the garment together on the shoulder. Occasionally, a third fibula on the chest supplemented this costume. The different materials of the fibulae allow conclusions to be drawn about the social position of the women.
